Where did the name Billabong originate from?
The name Billabong can be broken into 2 words, billa and bong. 'Billa' is an Australian word, and means river or creek. The word 'bong', means 'to die'. When you add these two terms together it means 'an area of water from a river or creek that is still and no longer running'.The billabong clothing logo shows 2 waves that are not running together and are motionless. They choose the name to represent the uniqueness of Australia and the aboriginal meaning of an oasis.
